I lost my mother when I was 24, I gave birth to my first son when I was 25, and then I lost my father when I was 26. At this time I was just getting started with my photography business and while I loved what I did, I don't think I understood the true importance of my job. After these losses, and becoming a mother, my perspective changed. I feel a huge responsibility to document events fully, noticing every proud smile, every loving hand hold, every tear that is shed. Weddings are filled with drama, emotion, joy, and even sadness. It is my job to look beyond the "normal" shots and create a collection of images that bring comfort. This is the happiest time of your life and aside from memories, photographs are all that is left to remember it. I photograph every wedding, every family session, as if it were my own.
The best thing that came out of covid, for me, was developing a daily yoga habit. I love staying active but hate traditional exercise. Yoga is perfect for my lifestyle and my personality! I transformed half my bedroom into a yoga studio so I do it all from home!
My college - Webster University - has a campus in Thailand and I jumped at the opportunity to study there. During this time I was deeply focused on photojournalism and I learned the art of "being a fly on the wall" as I photographed the coup d'etat in Bangkok, Loy Krathong in Ayutthaya, an art festival in Chiang Mai, among many other events. I value everything about my experience there!
Tower Grove Park and Carondelet Park are some of my St Louis favorites. My all time favorite place I've shot was in Cannon Beach, Oregon for an elopement/family vacation. It is truly magical there.
Obviously, I couldn't stop at just one. Moon, Coco, Angel, and Leo are the sweetest creatures who make my kids and I smile every day. You will probably see them featured often in my instagram stories.
